The Shire of Exmouth is taking a proactive approach to tackling the public health issue of social isolation among its elderly residents.
Social isolation is an important public health issue that has gained recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic because of the risks posed to older adults based on physical distancing, and we identified that there is an increasing number of senior members in Exmouth that are isolated from the broader community, which has a potential to impact the social, emotional and the physical well-being of our elders negatively. So we are taking action to reconnect community members.
